What is your professional background (license, certifications, years in practice, and any specialties/advanced training)?

I’ve been a licensed massage therapist since 2006. I received my license in Arizona, where 24 CEUs are required every two years, and I lived there until 2016. My specialties include deep tissue, trigger point therapy, active release, focused work, and injury-related massage.

What massage modalities do you offer and specialize in, and who are you the best fit for (pain relief, sports recovery, prenatal, relaxation, etc.)?

I offer Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Prenatal, Swedish, Active Release, stretching, relaxation massage, injury recovery work, and Ashiatsu body walking. Modalities I’ll be learning soon and offering include cupping, Graston, table Thai, and buccal massage (mouth massage). I’m also brushing up on oncology massage. I’m a great fit for clients seeking pain relief, sports recovery, relaxation, prenatal massage, and recovery from injury.

What is your treatment approach and style (pressure range, assessment process, customization, focus areas)?

Everything is customized based on what’s going on with your body that day. My pressure range is different for everyone, but my favorite phrase is: “I’m deep enough not to take your breath away.” In other words, my pressure can be deep, but if you’re holding your breath, then I’m going too deep. I can always go lighter as needed. but I will say I am more of a forearm and elbow kinda guy.

For assessment, I listen to what you tell me and go from there. A lot of different issues can cause similar problems, so I look at the bigger picture. Depending on what you have going on, I customize the session to fit your needs. Sore from working out? I may use stretching and cross-fiber work. Dealing with plantar fasciitis? I’d focus on your calves and feet with trigger point work and active release. Have a hangnail? I’ll send you to the nail tech down the street. They know me and will treat you well.

What should a first-time client expect with you (intake, communication during the session, aftercare recommendations)?

First, if you haven’t finished your intake form online, we’ll take care of that to make sure everything is complete and in order. Once the paperwork is done, we’ll talk about why you came in and what’s been going on. After that, we’ll move into the session with a plan based on your needs.

After your massage, I’ll let you know what I found and send you home with a little homework, just like your favorite teacher.

What are your availability and booking preferences (hours, how far out you book, and the best way to schedule with you)?

That all depends. I do like to have a little notice, preferably by the next day. I have hobbies and like to tinker with engines, so I can get pretty greasy, and if you know anything about car grease, it shows up in the oddest places and is really hard to get off. If it’s same day, I’d appreciate at least a few hours’ notice so I can get cleaned up and ready for you. As far as my hours and days, well... take a look.
